Lemon quartz is mostly used as a gemstone. It does not occur naturally.
The vast majority is produced by heating amethyst, smoky quartz or low grade citrine.
Lemon quartz gemstones can be quite large which is unusual for a stone that's faceted. This is because it's relatively cheap to produce.
To protect the colour lemon quartz should not be exposed to bright sunlight for long periods of time.
