Rutilated Quartz Pendant
Elegant rutilated quartz pendant necklace featuring a fine-grade cut gemstone.
Rutilated quartz is a type of included quartz with fine needle-like crystals of rutile. The mineral rutile, which is titanium dioxide, commonly occurs as an inclusion within other minerals.
Rutile
crystals reflect light beautifully, which gives them a silky lustre. They occur in various colours including gold, silver, red, and black.
The name rutile comes from the Latin rutilus, meaning red.
The colour of rutilated quartz is heavily influenced by the colour of
the inclusions. Were they not present, the quartz would almost certainly be colourless.
Inclusions in
quartz are extremely common. Rutile is one of the most common.
This rutilated quartz gemstone has a subtle champagne colour. The lighting we've used to capture the best image has enhanced it very slightly.
The gemstone has been mounted in a handcrafted sterling silver setting. The bale features our own SM hallmark from the London Assay Office.
