Rainbow calsilica is a manmade material that was first introduced to the world in 2002.
Those behind its production tried to pass it of as a natural stone from Chihuahua in Mexico.
Having been carefully analysed it was confirmed that rainbow calsilica was made of crushed calcium carbonate.
The stone also showed traces of various artificial dyes. Plastic-like stabilizers one of which included a paraffin derivative were also found.
The story behind the production of rainbow calsilica makes an interesting read.
We only have a small number of rainbow calsilica pendants available in our collection. This stone is not being restocked.
Each cabochon has been mounted in a handcrafted sterling silver setting.
