Mahogany Obsidian Tumbled Stones
Mahogany obsidian crystals in medium sizes. These stones have been produced in a rock tumbler, so size does vary from piece to piece. This is common for stones produced in a rotary tumbler as opposed to one that vibrates, and those cut and polished by hand.
The colour of mahogany obsidian comes from iron oxides, usually hematite or limonite.
Obsidian is molten magma that cooled too rapidly for crystals to grow. Where crystals are present, they're microscopic.
Like other types of glass, obsidian breaks with a conchoidal fracture because it doesn't have a crystalline structure. The presence of crystals would cause the edges to be more jagged.
Being relatively soft and fragile, obsidian tumbled stones can sometimes have minor imperfections. We do our best to filter these out.
