Rainbow Fluorite Spheres
Two finely polished rainbow fluorite spheres.
The colours in both spheres are deeper shades of red, purple and green. Some iridescence can be seen as light reflects off certain inclusions.
The round section of visible crystallisation in the fluorite sphere on the left makes it particularly unique.
Our photographs were taken using studio lighting.
Although the colours of fluorite are best appreciated when the crystal is illuminated, it's worth bearing in mind the colour may fade if exposed to natural daylight for any length of time. Excessive heat can also cause colours to fade.
The colour of these fluorite spheres has not been enhanced. Fluorite produced in China is often heated, which lightens darker shades of red and pink and makes the crystal more translucent. These stones are sold as 'candy' or 'watermelon' fluorite.
Fluorite is a soft and fragile crystal that must be handled carefully. It chips and fractures easily so internal fractures and minor surface imperfections are not uncommon.
As far as I can tell, these rainbow fluorite spheres are free from surface imperfections.
Both are positioned on a polished hematite ring. The spheres can be purchased with or without the ring.
