Rare Blue Lace Agate from Ysterputs
Finding blue lace agate from the Ysterputs mine in Southern Namibia is not easy. The deposit has been closed for several years so very little new material becomes available.
We currently have some very nice rough pieces in our collection but once they're gone we're unlikely to get more.
Although blue lace agate can be found in a few African countries the finest grade comes from Namibia.
This beautifully polished piece has been cut into a slightly curved shape that fits almost perfectly into the palm of your hand.
It has a silky-smooth texture which makes it incredibly tactile. After being handled it should be wiped with a soft cloth to remove fingerprints.
This blue lace agate stone has a vitreous lustre so reflects light in a similar way to glass.

Blue lace and blue agate look very similar but are not the same. Although both are types of chalcedony, only stones with prominent wavy bands are correctly known as blue lace agate.
