Natural Purple Fluorite Mineral
This fluorite mineral, which features deep purple-coloured crystals, is from South Africa.
In its purest form, fluorite is 51.1% calcium and 48.9% fluorine. Crystals occur in many different colours and can exhibit more than one colour within the same crystal.
When free from impurities, fluorite is colourless.
Fluorite can be found worldwide in many different geological environments.
This rough piece of fluorite shows distinctive green crystals underneath the top layer of purple crystals. Fluorite's colour is sensitive to light and may fade if exposed to sunlight.
