Fluorite is known as "the most colourful mineral in the world" due to the many colours in which it occurs.  In its purest form fluorite is colourless. Trace impurities of various minerals are responsible for the change in colour. 

Colours can be bright and vibrant but excessive exposure to heat or sunlight can cause some colours to fade.

The cause of the green colour in fluorite is still not fully understood. Scientists believe it may come from chromium or vanadium but are not certain. 

It's worth noting some fluorite coming in from China has almost certainly been enhanced.

Fluorite is a relatively soft and fragile mineral so must be handled carefully.

To fully appreciate the true beauty of these rainbow fluorite crystals hold them up towards natural daylight. 

These AAA grade tumbled stones are a medium sized stone.  Sizes may vary slightly from piece to piece.

Please note, with fluorite being such a soft and fragile mineral internal flaws and surface imperfections are not uncommon.
