Amazonite Crystals from Mozambique
These Amazonite crystals from Mozambique have a slightly more intense shade of colour than our Amazonite from Brazil.
I believe this is why they've been given a higher grade.
Amazonite is a striking variety of microcline feldspar, best known for its blue-green hue and silky lustre.
Despite its name, Amazonite isn't found near the Amazon River. When the mineral known as Amazonite was first identified, it was believed to be a type of jade. Although later recognised as a completely different mineral, the name stuck.
Amazonite can be found in several countries, including the U.S., particularly Colorado, Russia, Madagascar, Brazil, and India. The stone's colour can vary depending on where it's mined.
These variations are due to differences in trace elements, particularly lead and water content during crystal formation. Even within a single mine, stones can exhibit a variation in colour.
These premium grade amazonite crystals are medium-sized tumbled stones, but as with all stones produced in a rock tumbler, size can vary from piece to piece.
