Raw Amazonite Stone from Russia
This premium-grade amazonite is raw, unpolished stone from Mount Ploskaya, northwestern Russia. Other than being cleaned, it’s relatively untouched.
The size of the stones varies, but is generally quite small. It's available in quantities of 100g to 400g. Stones cannot be bought individually.
Subject to availability, all weights will include a mixture of sizes.
Amazonite, a feldspar mineral, is not particularly common. Although named after the River Amazon in Brazil, it's not found there. Amazonite does occur in Brazil, but mostly from the state of Bahia, more than 2000 kilometres away.
It’s believed that when it was named, amazonite was mistakenly thought to be nephrite jade, which is found near the Amazon River.
