Colourful Polychrome Jasper Stones
Beautifully polished and exceptionally colourful polychrome jasper from Madagascar. Also known as desert jasper, this material was found as recently as 2006.
Jasper is a colourful stone that's usually found with more than one colour. Single coloured stones are relatively rare. Due to its fine grain it takes on a high polish.
In the ancient world jasper was known as iaspis. Historians are not certain whether iaspis was the same material as the stone known today as jasper.
Iaspis was widely used for ornaments and amulets by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans.
These exceptionally tactile polychrome jasper freeforms may be used for their healing properties or for display purposes.
