Polished Ametrine Crystals - Heated Amethyst
These ametrine crystals have been produced from amethyst that has been heated. Heating changes some of the purple colour to the golden-brown associated with citrine.
In good light, they show shades of purple and black, with some paler quartz. When held up to bright light, the darkest areas reveal deep purple and yellow tones.
Natural ametrine, where both colours develop together as the crystal grows, is rare and comes mainly from one mine in Bolivia.
Each ametrine stone has been finely polished to a smooth, glass-like finish that catches the light beautifully. Some are clear enough to see deep into the stone, while others are more cloudy, with soft white veils and streaks inside.
We only have a small collection, as each piece was individually chosen. No two stones are the same.
These ametrine stones are listed by weight, with an asterisk marking the pieces that are more translucent.
