Freestanding Clear Quartz Crystal
A gorgeous, clear quartz crystal terminated point from our collection of rocks and minerals.
In its purest form, quartz is colourless and transparent. This finely polished piece boasts exceptional clarity and subtle but interesting inclusions.
Quartz with this degree of purity is also known as rock crystal. The name came about during the late Middle Ages and was used to differentiate clear quartz from a new material known as colourless glass. The glass was also known as crystal glass.
The inclusions in this quartz crystal could be gas bubbles caused by tiny pockets of gas that become trapped in the crystal.
They may be remnants of the liquid or gas from the hydrothermal environment in which the quartz formed.
The inclusions could also be traces of other minerals, such as hematite, rutile, or chlorite, which can become trapped in the crystal during its early formation.
A really beautiful piece of quartz that you'll love having as part of your collection.
