Raw Black Obsidian - Mexico
This impressive piece of black obsidian was individually chosen for our collection.
Obsidian is a natural volcanic glass that forms when lava cools so rapidly that crystals have insufficient time to grow.
Being a naturally occurring, non-crystalline solid, obsidian is correctly known as a mineraloid.
It often contains minute inclusions, which can be traces of other minerals, gas bubbles, or flow lines. These can sometimes be visible in strong light or with closer inspection.
A fine piece of natural black obsidian and a great choice for any rock and mineral collection.
