A deep-purple, translucent amethyst cabochon mounted as a pendant in fine sterling silver.

The magnificent colour of amethyst, one of the most popular varieties of quartz, comes primarily from iron. 

If exposed to sunlight or excessive heat for long periods, the stone's colour will fade.  

When not illuminated, this premium-grade amethyst looks almost black, but once held up to the light, its true magnificence is clear to see.
