Blue Lace Agate Rough Stone
Blue lace agate from the Ysterputs mine, farm 254, Karasburg West, Southern Namibia.
This mine has been closed since 2011.
Blue lace agate is a rare variety of the mineral chalcedony, characterised by its blue and white wavy bands.
With the deposit in Namibia no longer being mined, most blue lace agate now comes from Malawi and Zambia. Many argue the stone from Ysterputs is by far the best in terms of colour and finish once it has been polished.
Blue lace agate from Ysterputs is now highly sought after and extremely difficult to find. My persistence finally paid off, and I managed to find a small amount from a supplier in South Africa. Sadly, this is the last piece that I have available.
