Light Green Aventurine Crystals
Green aventurine also known as aventurine quartz occurs in several colours. Stones are characterised by distinctive platy inclusions which gives them a shimmering or glistening effect. Correctly known as aventurescence, this optical phenomenon is caused as light reflects off the inclusions.
Platy is a term used to describe mineral inclusions with a flat plate-like shape.
Although fuchsite (fook~site) tends to be the most common, inclusions in green aventurine can also be lepidolite, hematite, goethite (ger~tite) muscovite or ilmenite.
When present in abundance they can change the colour of the stone. Green is caused by the mineral fuchsite which is a chromium rich mica.
Green aventurine can be a light or darker shade of green.
