Light Green Aventurine Tumbled Stones
Finely polished light green aventurine crystals, carefully chosen for our collection of rocks and minerals.
Green aventurine, also known as aventurine quartz, occurs in several colours. Stones are characterised by distinctive platy inclusions which give them a shimmering or glistening effect.
Correctly known as aventurescence, this optical phenomenon is caused by light reflecting off inclusions.
Platy is a term used to describe a mineral inclusion with a flat, plate-like shape.
Although fuchsite (fook-site) tends to be the most common, inclusions in green aventurine can also be lepidolite, hematite, goethite (ger~tite), muscovite or ilmenite.
When present in abundance, they can change the colour of the quartz. Fuchsite, a chromium-rich mica, causes the green colour in aventurine.
Green aventurine can be a light or darker shade of green.
The inclusions in these green aventurine stones are particularly visible.
These crystals are medium-sized tumbled stones, but size does vary from piece to piece, which is common for stones produced in a rock tumbler.
We also have light green aventurine crystals in a larger size.
