Ruby Fuchsite Sphere
A carefully chosen ruby fuchsite sphere, cut from the finest grade material from Karnataka, Southern India.
This is the only piece of ruby fuchsite that we currently have in our collection.
The sphere has a wonderfully smooth texture and has been polished to a vitreous lustre.
Ruby fuchsite, pronounced 'fooksite', is often mistaken for ruby zoisite. Ruby fuchsite, which comes mostly from India, is not as rare as ruby in zoisite, which is found primarily in Tanzania.
It's not unheard of for ruby fuchsite to be sold as ruby zoisite.
Ruby fuchsite is a relatively rare chromium-rich variety of the mineral muscovite.
This sphere exhibits exceptional colour and markings, making a beautiful display piece. It may be purchased with or without the hematite ring on which it's displayed.
The fine horizontal lines in the sphere are markings in the stone. They're not hairline cracks or scratches.
