Large Aquamarine Gemstone
Aquamarine pendant featuring a beautiful polished cabochon. The distinctive line is a surface reaching fissure. With closer inspection several smaller ones can also be seen.
It's not unusual for aquamarine to be heavily included. It would be incredibly rare to find an inclusion-free stone of this size and grade.
Aquamarine is part of the family of minerals known as beryl. Other varieties include emerald, morganite, heliodor and the lesser known goshenite.
Birthstone for March, it's a relatively hard material which grades 7.5 to 8 on Mohs scale of hardness.
Aquamarine can vary from the deepest shades of green to light shades of blue. Impurities of iron are the cause of the stone's colour.
This fine grade aquamarine gemstone has been mounted in a handmade sterling silver setting.
