Amazonite Gemstone Pendant

Pretty amazonite pendant crafted in a simple sterling silver setting.

A vibrant greenish-blue coloured gemstone with distinctive white markings.  These inclusions are usually quartz or feldspar.

Amazonite is a variety of microcline whose colour is caused by trace impurities of lead.

Amazonite also known as Amazon Stone takes its name from the river Amazon.  Ironically it's not found in that part of Brazil.  It's believed at the time of being named, amazonite was confused for another similar looking stone that was found in that location.  That stone is believed to have been nephrite jade.
