Crazy Lace Agate Polished Stone
A large gem-grade crazy lace agate stone with distinctive markings and exceptional colour.
Only the front and edges of this agate stone have been polished, the back is unpolished.
This crazy lace agate stone was not cut for the purpose of being used in jewellery but could be used for that purpose. It does however have a small indentation on the bottom edge which is likely to have broken away whilst being cut or polished. It can be seen in our last photo.
The stone has been shaped as a cabochon so the top is subtly rounded whilst the bottom is flat. Although it can't be fully appreciated in our photos the front is highly polished.
This has created a vitreous lustre so the stone reflects light in a similar way to glass.
Most of the world's crazy lace agate is mined in state of Chihuahua in Mexico. It's believed to be between 65 and 142 million years old.
