Freestanding Amethyst Geode
A freestanding amethyst geode with deep purple crystals on a bed of white quartz.
The white layer is the initial quartz lining that formed inside the rock’s cavity. Between this layer and the host rock is a fine green band, most commonly celadonite, a natural mineral that formed as the volcanic rock altered before the quartz began to crystallise. The layer can just about be seen in our photos.
The shape of this amethyst geode adds to its character and makes it a perfect display piece. The base has been cut flat to enable it to stand upright.
