Magnificent Amethyst Geode - Incredible Colour
A premium-grade amethyst geode from Uruguay. The crystals in this piece display a deep, saturated purple colour.
Geodes from the region where these geodes are mined are known for their exceptional colour. Trace amounts of iron within the quartz crystal structure, combined with strong natural irradiation from surrounding rocks, and steady crystal growth within thick volcanic rocks, produce deep purple-coloured crystals, often with minimal colour zoning.
This palm-sized amethyst geode is in excellent condition, with no visible damage. A single crystal at one end has very slight movement, but so subtle that it can only just be felt.
To preserve the colour of amethyst, it should be positioned away from natural daylight.
Amethyst geodes may be rinsed under cool water to remove dust if necessary, but should be allowed to dry naturally.
