Small Amethyst Geodes from Uruguay
A collection of small amethyst geode sections, all featuring rich purple-coloured crystals.

All of the pieces listed are shown in our photos.
What is a Geode?
A
geode is a rock with a hollow cavity that’s typically lined with crystals.
Geodes form over millions of years in sedimentary and volcanic rocks. They form when water rich in dissolved minerals seeps into cavities or hollow spaces in the rock.
As the water dries up, only minerals are left behind. Over time,
the minerals crystallise and grow while more minerals accumulate.
Geodes can also form when gas bubbles in lava expand and cannot escape. As the lava solidifies, cavities form in the rock.
Minerals left behind in the void from hydrothermal solutions or groundwater then slowly crystallise.
