Ruby zoisite is a relatively rare stone that's a combination of green zoisite and red corundum.
Crystals of black hornblende may also be present.
These grade-B ruby zoisite crystals have a rougher texture. When gently moved around in ambient light, minute sparkling crystals can be seen.
Weights and sizes vary slightly from piece to piece, but they're medium-sized tumbled stones. We also have grade-A ruby zoisite tumbled stones in our collection and AAA-grade.
The grade-A stones have a richer colour and finer polish but are not as well included with red corundum. The AAA-grade stones are beautifully polished and have exceptional colour.
Ruby zoisite is also known as ruby in zoisite, which is a more accurate description of what the stone is. Although used primarily for decorative purposes, it can be difficult to work with because of the difference in hardness between the zoisite and corundum.
