Blue Lace Agate Rough Stones
Blue lace agate from the Ysterputs mine, farm 254, Karasburg West Southern Namibia.
Sadly, this mine has been closed since about 2012.
Blue lace agate is a rare variety of the mineral chalcedony characterised by its blue and white wavy bands.
With the deposit in Namibia no longer being mined, most blue lace agate now comes from Malawi and Zambia. Many argue the stone from Ysterputs is by far the best in terms of colour and finish once it has been polished.
Blue lace agate from Ysterputs is now highly sought after and extremely difficult to find. My persistence finally paid off, and I managed to find a small amount from a supplier in South Africa.
All blue lace agate from Ysterputs currently available is already in circulation.
The small number of pieces I currently have are really quite special.
