Sparkling Blue Sapphire Necklace

This spectacular blue sapphire necklace has been finished with white gold clasps.

The sapphires are from Madagascar.  

Each stone has been faceted, so it sparkles incessantly when it catches the tiniest amount of light.

The necklace fastens with an eighteen-carat white gold lobster clasp.  It measures 45cms but has several rings so can be worn as long as 47cms.

It weighs 30.6 grams.

This style of necklace is usually strung on a cotton thread.  The problem is that over time, the drilled holes rub against the cotton which can cause it to break. 

When we had our sapphire necklaces made, we used a fine nylon jewellery thread instead, which is far more resilient.
