Rhodochrosite Cabochon Gemstones
Two fine-grade rhodochrosite cabochons, with distinctive colour and markings.
Although it can't be fully appreciated from our photos, both are highly polished to a vitreous lustre.
The mineral rhodochrosite is best known for its pinkish-red colour. Material used for lapidary purposes tends to exhibit distinctive white markings.
Despite its popularity, it's a very soft stone, so it must be handled carefully.
Both gemstones were initially mounted as rings, but due to an issue with the settings, they were removed. The rectangular cabochon has a shallow groove just above the base, from where it was secured in the setting. The base of this stone has been polished for smoothness rather than lustre.
The oval rhodochrosite stone, which is fully polished, has a minor black line just above the base, also from where it was secured in the setting.
With both being premium-grade gemstones, instead of discarding them, they're being offered at a discounted price.
If you're not bothered by these minor imperfections, these rhodochrosite gemstones are a great choice at an unbeatable price.
