Pink Opal Silky Smooth Texture

A highly polished pink opal cabochon, finely cut, rich pink colour. 

Pink opal is a type of common opal.  Its chemical composition is almost identical to precious opal with the only exception being it doesn't exhibit 'play of colour'. 

Common opals which can be found in many countries around the world occur in several colours.  The pink variety comes predominantly from Peru and Western Australia.  

This colourful gemstone is polished on both sides.  Although not particularly obvious in our photos it has a slightly abstract shape.  One of the longer sides is shorter than the other.  One side of teh stone measures 2.3cms the other 2.5.
