Colourful Jasper Stones - Beautifully Polished
Two beautifully polished jasper stones with exceptional colour.
Cut for Stone Mania from the same piece of rock, these jasper stones are from the Pilbara in the north of Western Australia. This area is known for its red earth, vast mineral reserves and abundance of iron ore.
The red colour in these jasper stones comes from iron impurities, most likely hematite. The yellowish-brown is from goethite (ger-tite).
The fronts of both stones exhibit a vitreous lustre, while the backs, which have been polished for smoothness, have a dull lustre.
The first three photos were taken in natural daylight.
The oblong-shaped jasper stone can be found under product code ZZGF.
