Pear-Shaped Picture Jasper Gemstone
A finely polished Picture Jasper gemstone, highly polished to a vitreous lustre. It has a smooth, silky texture, making it surprisingly tactile.
Picture Jasper is a type of microcrystalline quartz, meaning its crystals are too small to be seen with the naked eye.
It's mostly used in lapidary work.
Being a silicified mudstone, Picture Jasper typically occurs in shades of tan, cream and brown due to iron oxide and other mineral inclusions. Silicified means the original mud has been gradually replaced and hardened by silica over time.
