Large Noreena Jasper Gemstone
A beautifully polished jasper gemstone, cut from material mined in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
This type of jasper formed when iron-rich sedimentary layers, originally composed of fine clays or muds, were silicified, a process in which silica (quartz) gradually replaced the original material, transforming it into a hard, microcrystalline quartz-based stone known as jasper.
The deep red colour and distinctive white markings make this large jasper gemstone particularly striking.
The top of the Noreena Jasper gemstone is highly polished, while the base, which is flat, is unpolished.
