Green Quartz Crystals aka Prase
Although sometimes believed to be the same stone, green quartz is different to green aventurine.
Green quartz was a name originally used to describe a dull leek-green coloured quartzite. Quartzite is a rock not a mineral.
This material is correctly known as prase.
Over the years the term "green quartz" has started being used for a wide variety of green stones many of which are not "prase" at all.
Prasiolite is another green variety of quartz. Due to its rarity the vast majority is produced by heating amethyst. It's often referred to as green amethyst which is a misnomer.
The colour of these "green quartz" crystals is natural. It's caused by inclusions of green coloured minerals in the structure of the crystal. We're not certain whether they're prase or another type of green quartz.
Size can vary from piece to piece but they're classed as a medium sized tumbled stone.
