Unpolished Fluorite

Rough Green Fluorite

A nice piece of green fluorite with pin-head-sized pyrite inclusions visible mostly on one side.

This piece was purchased with four other similar pieces during a buying trip to South Africa just after travel restrictions were lifted after Covid. 

I mistakenly believed it was chrysoprase, so that's what the three other pieces were labelled as. All three sold some time ago.

However, I became suspicious after noticing the inclusions of pyrite in this piece because pyrite rarely occurs in chrysoprase. 

After some investigation, it has been confirmed that this mineral is green fluorite. 

This piece, which has a slightly waxy lustre, is rough, so it's unpolished.
