Translucent Green Fluorite Polished Stone
Beautifully translucent green fluorite crystal, polished to a vitreous lustre.
We found this piece in a ‘needs repolishing’ basket during a visit to one of our suppliers in India. It appears to have previously been set into a piece of jewellery and later removed.
The repolishing was required to remove a faint black mark present on two lower edges of the stone.
I was particularly fascinated by this green fluorite crystal because, when held up to the light, it reveals a subtle honeycomb-like appearance. When viewed under magnification, the internal features resemble green moss.
These structures are the result of variations in crystal growth and microscopic mineral or fluid inclusions captured as the fluorite formed.
Taking this gemstone as it was enabled us to purchase it at a great price, which we’re happy to pass on.
If you’re looking for a beautiful green fluorite crystal and don’t mind this minor polishing issue, this stone will not disappoint.
