Dainty Citrine Pendant - Heated Amethyst
A pretty amethyst citrine pendant crafted in a fine sterling silver setting.
This pendant has been slightly reduced because it has not been hallmarked. All of our faceted gemstone pendants carry our own SM hallmark from the London Assay Office. However, this one was unfortunately missed.
As we are no longer having jewellery made for us, and are selling most of our pendants at a discounted price, we have decided not to incur the additional cost of hallmarking.
In the UK, under the Hallmarking Act 1973, silver items below 7.78 grams do not need to be hallmarked.
This premium-grade citrine gemstone exhibits excellent colour. It has a concave cut, which reflects light outwards from the centre of the stone.
The stone is heated amethyst, which is widely accepted in the jewellery trade as a replacement for citrine.
Low-grade citrine is quite common, but the colour is generally pale or can look washed out. When heated, saturation can improve slightly, but the shade can also change to more of a brownish-yellow.
Most 'citrine' being sold, especially larger gemstones and those with a richer colour, are heated amethyst. They're often described as 'natural' citrine.
When well produced, heated amethyst citrine can be very beautiful.
