Finest-Grade Chrysocolla Stones - Lightly Polished
Striking chrysocolla stones, carefully chosen for our collection of rocks and minerals.
The colour of these stones is exceptional, but with chrysocolla being incredibly soft, it must be handled as little as possible.
Chrysocolla, which frequently occurs in and around copper mines, is often found close to deposits of malachite.
On the Mohs scale of mineral hardness, it grades 2 to 2.5, which is a similar hardness to that of a fingernail.
These lightly polished chrysocolla stones are from the Democratic Republic of Congo. This mineral is a minor ore of copper, which forms from water with silica.
When combined with quartz, chrysocolla can be slightly harder, but these stones have a high purity, so will be quite soft.
Although chrysocolla is widely used for its healing properties, some material is not ideal because, with excessive handling, it's likely to become damaged. The chrysocolla stone in the centre is more fragile than the stones on either side. All three have a wonderfully silky-smooth texture.
In the dropdown menu, the chrysocolla stone on the left, which is no longer available, is number one.
