Crazy Lace Agate Crystals - Mexico
Beautifully polished, crazy lace agate tumbled stones with exceptional colour and markings.
Crazy lace is a popular variety of agate with distinctive angular bands. Stones with this type of pattern are also known as fortification agate. This name came about because the markings were believed to resemble the fortifications of a castle.
Crazy lace agate is composed primarily of silicon dioxide, a chemical compound also known as silica. In nature, silicon dioxide occurs mostly as quartz.
Crazy lace is known for its striking colours and intricate patterns, which form as different minerals come together as the agate crystallises.
It's widely used for decorative purposes and its metaphysical healing properties. It comes almost exclusively from Chihuahua, Mexico, and is mined in a desert area located 6,200 feet above sea level.
Crazy lace agate occurs in limestone believed to date back to the Cretaceous Period.
These tumbled crystals are a medium-sized stone, but size does vary from piece to piece.
