Blue Lace Agate Cabochon - AAA-Grade
An exceptional blue lace agate cabochon, cut from stone mined at the original Ysterputs mine in southern Namibia.
At first glance, this finely polished gemstone appears opaque, but the two slightly darker wavy bands running across the centre are actually highly translucent.
When held up to a bright light, a magical transformation takes place.
This blue lace agate gemstone has a smooth, silky texture and excellent colour.
Blue lace agate from Ysterputs, southern Namibia is rare and highly sought after because the mine has been closed for many years. Although blue lace agate can be found in some other African countries, Ysterputs is known for producing the highest-grade material.
In the last two photos, the gemstone is illuminated from behind to highlight the stone's translucence, but unfortunately, it's not easy to capture well in a photo.
