White Quartz Crystals aka Milky Quartz
Like most varieties of quartz, white quartz, also known as milky quartz or snow quartz, is composed of silicon dioxide.
Its milky-white colour comes from tiny gas bubbles, liquid inclusions, or minute mineral impurities trapped within the crystal structure during formation.
White quartz forms in a variety of geological environments, including igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks. It's particularly abundant in granite and other rocks rich in silica.
The characteristic opacity of white quartz comes from the scattering of light caused by the microscopic inclusions, which prevent it from being translucent or transparent.
White quartz is widely used for its metaphysical healing properties. It's also used for carvings and in the production of glass and ceramics.
These white quartz crystals are medium-sized tumbled stones, but size can vary from piece to piece. We also have a larger white quartz crystal in our collection.
