Transvaal Jade Crystals
Transvaal jade is a stone from South Africa composed mostly of grossular garnet. Despite its name, it isn't jade.
Its trade name refers to its resemblance to jade and to the former Transvaal province of South Africa, where it was found.
Although many people
consider garnet to be red, this group of minerals occurs in many colours. Grossular garnet sold as Transvaal jade forms compact masses rather than distinct, individual crystals.
Transvaal jade is also sold as African jade or hydrogrossular garnet. Hydrogrossular is a form of grossular garnet with a slightly different chemical composition
These Transvaal jade tumbled stones are mostly small, with some being very small. The small and very small stones are listed first in our dropdown menu. They're sold in lots and include mixed sizes. They are not available to buy individually.
We also have a larger stone, closer to a medium size, that can be purchased individually.
