These stones have been tumbled from stone mined in Botswana. They have an incredibly smooth texture and once in your hand it's difficult to put them down.
In its purest form agate is either white, grey or a bluish-grey. Various impurities cause a wide range of colours. Agate is best known for its characteristic banding although not all agates are banded.
The structure of the mineral agate is microcrystalline which means its crystals are too small to be seen with the naked eye.
On Mohs scale of hardness agate grades 6.5 to 7 so it's fairly hard but also brittle.
