Peach Aventurine Crystals
Aventurine, also known as aventurine quartz, is composed primarily of the mineral quartz.
It's sometimes called adventurine, which isn't correct.
Minute inclusions of mica, fuchsite or hematite are often present in aventurine, giving it a glittery or spangly appearance. This effect is known as aventurescence.
Aventurescence occurs as light reflects off these minute mineral inclusions. When present in abundance, they can cause the stone to change colour.
The most common colour of aventurine is green, but it also occurs in shades of orange, yellow, red, pink, brown, white, grey and blue.
Although often described as a mineral, aventurine is a rock.
Many stones sold today as aventurine exhibit little or no aventurescence. Finding stones with this characteristic can be difficult.
Peach aventurine is a trade name for a deep reddish-orange coloured stone. The colour comes from iron oxides, most likely hematite.
These peach aventurine crystals are a slightly larger tumbled stone, but size can vary from piece to piece. They have an exceptionally smooth texture and are finely polished.
