Opalite Crystals Opalescent Glass
Opalite is opalescent glass that's gained popularity in recent years.
It's made in a similar way to vases and some drinking glasses. It's made using dolomite, fluorite and metal oxides.
Opalite is a wonderfully attractive iridescent glass whose appearance has been likened to opal or moonstone.
Opalite is often marketed as a healing crystal but it's worth noting this is a synthetic material.
The vast majority of opalite is manufactured in China.
So how is Opalite made?
The process begins with molten glass that's combined with minerals and metal oxides. This creates the colour and iridescence. Once the mixture has cooled it's cut and polished.
Whilst opalite may not have the same metaphysical properties as natural crystals it's a striking decorative material. Its iridescent glow and soft blue hue makes it ideal as a decorative stone.
These large opalite stones are the finest quality we've ever had. They're highly translucent and exhibit exceptional colour.
Opalite is one of only two man-made materials that we feature as part of our collection.
