Natural Quartz Crystal Point

This chunky quartz crystal is mostly transparent but some sections are slightly obscured by intricate crystallisation.  Some reddish-brown colour can also be seen but only when the quartz is viewed from certain angles.

Polished quartz of this grade is really quite spectacular but capturing it well in a photograph is not easy.  To fully appreciate this type of quartz it needs to be in your hands.

Although quartz is a relatively hard mineral it's also brittle so will chip or fracture quite easily.
