Rutilated Quartz Necklace Pendant
An unusually large, AAA-grade rutilated quartz gemstone mounted as a pendant necklace in a fine sterling silver setting.
The golden hair-like strands within the quartz are crystals of the mineral rutile. They exhibit a silky lustre, and with the reflection of light, glisten beautifully. The crystal inclusions are far more subtle than they appear in our photos.
The delicate yellow hue of the quartz is caused by the colour of the rutile crystals. Were they not present, it's likely the quartz would be colourless.
Quartz with inclusions is known as included quartz. When included with rutile, it's also known as rutilated quartz or golden rutile. Rutile is one of the most common inclusions in quartz.
This unique rutilated quartz pendant has been crafted by hand. The setting, which is fine sterling silver, features our own SM hallmark from the London Assay Office.
