The reason for this pendant being reduced is because the bale at the top is very slightly off-centre. It can only really be seen with careful inspection.
Mother of pearl is also known as nacre which we believe is pronounced nay~ker. This natural shell is made up primarily of the mineral aragonite and small amounts of a horn-like organic substance known as conchiolin.
Mother of Pearl is produced by oysters and some molluscs. It's best known as the lining of some sea-shells.
