Minty Green Fluorite
Colourful fluorite pendant crafted in timeless sterling silver.
Fluorite is a fragile stone which must be handled carefully. If knocked it's likely to chip or fracture. This is because as well as being relatively soft, it also cleaves in four directions.
The term cleavage is used to describe the way a crystalline solid splits along structural planes.
Fluorite is often known as the world's most colourful mineral. Although it occurs in almost any colour, shades of blue, green, yellow and purple are most common. When free from impurities the mineral is colourless.
This green fluorite pendant has been reduced because there's is a natural flaw in the bottom section of the crystal. This seems to have been caused by a surface reaching fissure. It can seen in our second photograph but can hardly be felt.
