Red Jasper Gem-Grade Stone

An exceptional AAA grade red jasper stone polished to perfection.  The stone has vitreous or glass-like lustre so reflects light beautifully.  Lustre describes the way light interacts with the surface of a rock or mineral.  Stones with a vitreous lustre reflect light in a similar way to glass.

Red jasper is a microcrystalline variety of quartz.  Its deep red colour comes from impurities of hematite.  Hematite is a natural form of iron oxide.  The most common iron oxide on Earth is rust. 

This unusually large red jasper stone has been finely cut so is surprisingly lightweight.  It has a cabochon-like shape so is subtly rounded across the top with a flat base.  It's incredibly tactile so could be used for its metaphysical healing properties.
